Loredana Gaspar was born in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy. She began performing at age seven and as a teenager, she became interested in painting and filmmaking. The films of Pedro Almodovar, Alan Parker and Zhang Yimou inspired her, as well as the plays of Chekhov, Federico Garcia Lorca and Thornton Wilder.

Later, the choreography of Angelin Preljoaj, Pina Bausch and Jiri Kylian inspired her to find her own original voice and a way to convey her own ideas. To this end, she earned a B. A. in Performing Arts in Milan, where she took part in modern dance and theater productions.

After winning a European Union scholarship and studying Musical Theater at the Bernstein Musical Theater School in Bologna, she moved to New York City and attended the Lee Strasberg Institute and the Susan Slavin Actors and Singers Academy. She gained experience performing in a variety of musical and theater productions prior to deciding it was time to shift from performing other people’s work to creating her own.

Lordana went on to study Fine Arts and Filmmaking at the New Jersey City University under the mentorship of Mr. Roddy Bogawa, and she has made short documentaries, videos and two short films: Tainted and Hamartia. Tainted is an urban tale combined with the mythology of Alice in Wonderland, and it is shot “guerrilla” style on the streets of NYC and Jersey City. Hamartia is a psychological thriller which explores the implications of romantic relationships and fantasies, using documentary storytelling techniques and surrealist sequences.

Loredana has recently finished her first feature length screenplay, a love story set in NY between an American painter and a Romanian singer living in New York City complicated by the trials of immigration. She integrated her background in performing arts and fine arts, as well as her experience as an immigrant living in New York City.

She has also exhibited her artwork in NYC and is currently writing a treatment for a new psychological thriller about love and the supernatural, based on the lives and works of Roman Polanski and Michael Bulgakov.
